I was just punching in some random travel dates for one person,

    Outbound @ €79.99 Inbound @ €95.99

Put in the same dates & destination for four people and the price comes back at,

    Outbound @ €79.99 Inbound @ €109.99

Is this typical, never noticed it before, annoying!!:(

Yes, with lots of airlines, try 2 adults and 3 kids on RyanAir and then separate 1 adult one kid and 1 adult 2 kids and you'll differences. That's why we book separately. Sometimes it's worth your while to book single flights instead of return flights for the same reason.

This is because they have only number of seats on each flight at certain prices...when you looked for a greater number of seats than they had at €95.99 it picked the higher price. Simples!!

Possibly but both flights are pretty empty at the moment, going by their seat selection thingy

Not everyone selects their seats at the time of purchase, so it's by no means an accurate guide to the number of seats purchased.

    Reganovski's explanation is spot on.
