Wake up Sleeping Laptop

I use Firefox on Windows Vista and when I close the lid and put the laptop to sleep I lose the network connection upon resumption. It's a wireless connection and if I accept the help suggestion to "connect a cable" I feel it defeats the purpose of wireless use. The info on the taskbar icon reads: "Identifying network UPC 123456 - Access local only". If I restart, it reconnects properly. Any way of fixing this?

See if there is an updated wireless driver.

Depending on the make of the laptop; you should just be able to go onto the manufacturers website and find a downloads section for drivers.

Thanks Alanstrainor, I think the problem's been solved by your suggestion. Fingers cross-eyed.
