iMac RAM

    I'm getting a new iMac and am hoping to upgrade the RAM myself (cheaper). Will this affect the warranty in any way?

    Also, it will come with 4GB RAM (2x2GB) - will there be any problems if i use 2x4GB (giving a total of 12GB) in the remaining two slots or should i stick to another 2x2GB (giving a total of 8GB)?

    In otherwords, can you mix different sizes of RAM?

    I got my iMac with 4GB and bought 8 (2x4) from crucial.com/eu and it's a 2 minute job to install. There are no issues with the different sizes in there. I considered buying 4x4 but thought the 12 was enough to be honest and meant that the original 4 wasn't 'wasted'.
