Irish Gaming Community?

    Hello.

Is anybody interested in starting an Irish gaming community? The main topic would be Minecraft of course, other topics are general gaming, anime, programming, web developing and other...

The plan would be to start an Irish community and then expand. First of all I think we should build a server and then build a website/forum. So, if you are interested, post your thoughts here...

    :)

You have just registered and started a thread on an Irish Gaming Community site, in the Minecraft section, which already has several servers!!!

This is a general Irish community board. I am interested in making a proper gaming community. :)

Can you please let me know what a 'proper gaming community' is?

A website/forum dedicated to gaming and a few other topics but not like Boards.ie.

Why not like Boards, what's wrong with it?

Also, here's a forum dedicated to gaming http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=4

There is nothing wrong with Boards.ie, I just want to make a forum dedicated to gaming only, not to everything.

There's a few quite healthy Irish game communities.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204 is one I am involved with, I provide on average 50 videos from 2 tournaments a month. 12 of us are heading to the World Games Cup in 2 weeks to play in an international tournament. Last year we sent someone to Evo in Las Vegas.

Just because you're not aware of them doesn't mean they are not there :)

I will but I need a team. I can't do it by myself only.

Indeed you did Tallon. Indeed you did.

Also might want to give this guy a few nudges in the right direction (other than boards).

There's an air of cockiness coming from this thread to be honest! (Not attacking, just pointing out).

Apologies if that's how I came across, not the intention

I just don't understand the OP's post... Coming on to a forum with everything he's looking for, and asking to start one from scratch.

It sounds like he wants someone to create a brand new forum, and just 'put him in charge' or something rather than doing anything himself

It does cost money and time and effort to do something like that. You need to pay for the server, domain name, hosting etc. You need to advertise the server and site to get people interested. You need to actually run the server as well. You should research what it takes first to make sure you're able to handle it.

Locking this. Somewhat unrelated to Minecraft. If you're interested in doing something then PM retrogamer or Mr. E for permission to talk about it in the general 'Games' forum.
