    Alitalia 777 due into Dublin today for the hangars, due in, I think, around midday. Going into the hangar when the Etihad one comes out.

    Purely based on my personal spotting of Alitalia aircraft I would guess 25%-35% of their fleet to be EI reg-ed. Aerflot also have quite a number of EI-xxx aircraft.

    Italian aviation rules require airlines there to have their planes registered in the owners country.

    Bulk of European leasing firms are "Irish" either in reality or for corp tax reasons

    Did seem very odd when waiting to see an Aer Lingus plane take off from Milan and it was nearly solid EI-xxx regs coming and going on the Italian airlines and Ryanair!
