scenic 2000 weird electrical problem

I check my lights from time to time, but only today my friend was driving behind me and noticed that something is not right. I would not notice it, as usually dont check lights with brake pressed...here is what happens:
When right indicator is on, and foot on brake(?) indicator is working together with rear fog/stop light (in sequence indicator-stop-indicator-stop). It does what it is supposed to do, but not exactly. To make it even weirder, rear wiper turns on, too (always when front are on, and from time to time when front is off). Anyone came across this?
The car itself did not give me any trouble since i have it(over 1 year), and with upgrade to something newer in mind i booked it for NCT early for this friday (NCT is up in April). Any ideas for quick, and proper fix? Dont want to sell it with this fault, afraid it might go worse with time. Thanks in advance for any advice (please, do not send me to Renault service...).

I had a similar issue on the missus old 00 Scenic a couple of years back. Checks all the cabling, even changed the bulb holders. In the end it turned out to be the cheap bulbs we had used. Think it was Bosch ones that fixed it.

Wireing wise, the earth is the place to start. Make sure all is well with the connections.

    French disco lights, oh yeah!

You have at least one earth fault. It could be the connections to the light units or sometimes a track on the PCB burns out. Try googling "scenic earth fault rear light" - there may be a list of common trouble spots.

Wipers, not sure about that. Does it only happen with some front wiper modes (fast) or does it happen with all modes? OK, read your post again. I think the wipers could be a fault in the control stalk at the wheel but that's just a guess.

Thanks, the thing is that the control stalk is ok, the rear one turns on its own only when indicating right with brake pressed... somehow they are connected...

You might be on right track with earth fault, i will check all the googles and report back. Hope i will find it before friday...

I think more about the wires, the bulbs thing is a mystery to me, to be honest. Only had the front ones changed with full service, and dont know how long the problem existed... I check the cables on Thursday, with earth in mind. Thanks.

I missed the wiper thing first time round. It's not happening when you put the car in to reverse by any chance is it?
