    Hey Folks,

For a while now, good few months seems that there are some issues with sound with BBC1 and MTV using UPC's Analogue TV connected to MCE (using one of the old hauppauge MCE 500 dual tuner cards. Worked for years but just over last 6-8 months have a problem where BBC1 sounds takes a varied amount of time before you hear anything, something nothing at all. MTV simply no sound coming thorugh at all. Did UPC ever change the freq of these analogue channels from whats in the TV settings DL for Ireland? Not a biggie but just been something thats been bugging me for a while. A rescan of all channels doesnt help. Must look for the location of that MCE EPG website hosted by MS to report problems.

    Wow, blast from the past.
The issue, which I haven't encountered in 4 years at least, relates to nicam stereo.
    There is no real fix.

The solution is to slightly detune the channel and it won't pick up the nicam. The audio should then work for you

Ah - Thanks a mill for the reply..... yip that sounds like my problem alright... funny i've been using MCE since XP many moons ago with out issue. i've upgraded my PC but kept the Hauppauge MCE500 tuner card and worked flawlessy up until about 6 months - 8 months ago I think... don;t know why this is happening now unless UPC have changes something with the analogue recently. Just not sure if there's a easy way to manually finetune the channels in MCE and its all setup automatically. i'm sure the 500 tuner card does not enable the channel scan as was introduced in Win7... Do you know if you can do this in MCE.... Not a biggie but if I can sort it out I will. Thanks again for info... much appreciated.. ;-)

you could certainly fine tune in older versions (I used to use MCE with windows XP), not used MC in windows 7 though - which is what I presume you're using?
