I am currently in first year in dcu doing general nursing and i'm not enjoying the course as much as I thought I would, but dropping out would mean i have to pay fees :'( I regret not doing science, specifically analytical science.... anyways I was just looking through the dcu site and came across this.....

''Are you a first year DCU student who wants to transfer within the same Faculty, to a similarly structured programme, before the third Friday of Semester 2? If so, you must have passed Semester 1 assessments and you must have attained the Leaving Certificate points score for the programme you want to enter and also the specific programme entry requirements. It is your responsibility to get the permission and signature of the two relevant Chairpersons. You must return this signed form to the Registry by the third 28th february''

.....is it too good to be true?? is it not too late for me to change?

Also if anyone could give me some information on analytical science that would be great thanks :)

I'd say the best thing to do is to get in touch with whoever organises transfers tomorrow if you can. It looks like you can switch, since it all comes under Science and Health.

I don't do analytical science but I'm in the same classes as them this year. This is our bitchy thread but please bear in mind that's where we were letting off steam. The classes are much better than they seem. If there are any particular questions you have about first year science, I'll answer them if I can.

I echo what aoifums said and go talk to the programme chair of AS (Dr.Mary Pryce) It's hard to say especially since the courses arent very similar in terms of modules. if you are able to transfer you will be at a disadvantage going into the course. The first year Sciences have completed half of the Maths module, a bio, chemistry and physics module aswell.

Your best bet will be to transfer at the end of first year and do the first year of AS (But the downside of this is that full fees will be in effect).

Theres a few users on here that do Analytical sciences that will be more than willing to give you the full insight into the ins and outs of the course.

    Hope it helps
