    Hi.

So I coming up on three years experience with a small chartered accountants practice. I took the CPA route and have 4 exams left to do. I do regret doing CPA as it tends to be looked down upon from what I've seen.

I'm thinking about moving on and I'd like to get some Big 4 experience on my cv. I'm just wondering do the Big 4 even look at someone with part CPA qualifications? I know they recruit from universities around october / november. How would I go about getting an interview for a position?

Unfortunately you're correct it is looked down on and you'd be unlikely to get into a big4 with them, especially part-qualified.

Would you consider starting a 3 year training contract and doing the ACAs, maybe you'd get exemptions?

The big practices are open to taking on CPA's but you would have to be fully qualified and have good exprerience, its not a closed shop for CPA's and big firms but it is more difficult. I have come across plenty of CPA's in big practices.

I work in with one of the Big 4 in in my department there are at least two people who took the CPA route. Both were part qualified when they started. One is now qualified and was recently made manager and the other only started last year and will be sitting her final exams this year... If that is anthing to go by it's definitely not impossible!
