had been making the odd knife for my self and friends. just a thing i liked to do along with making my own archery quivers and the like.
went to the world police and fire games games in New york last year representing the Irish prison service in archery.
while there got asked alot of questions from other archers and bowhunters about the knife i was carrying on my belt. got asked if i would make one for a few people.
and so j,reck knives came about. the knives are short run custom build
the idea behind the knives is to bring a custom quality knife at a affordable price. so i did a run of 50 and they all sold in America.
well thought i would offer the same hear at home.
knife is a full tang 440C carbon steel. 8 5/8ths overall length, blade is 4 3/8ths
handle 4 2/8ths. blade is 1 2/8ths wide and 3/16ths thick. bolster is of birds eye damascus. handle wood is walnut, pins, mosaic handle liners/spacers and lanyard surround are brass.
file work surround entire tang. and sheath is of 8/9 oz leather.
pics are of initial design and finished knife.

let me know what you think of the idea.
    Please note.
Options will be available for the knife, just have to work out what I can offer while keeping price the same..

The brass liners are a nice touch and compliment the mocaic pin well.

That's an accomplished piece of work right there! Not your first go I'd say? ;)

A very usable size, is she hollow ground? Nice selection of materials, the fit of the walnut to the bolster is nice and tight, are there red liners in there?

I'm glad you didn't go mad with mosaic pins, one is plenty, like Murray Carter does it.

I'd like to see the rearmost pin moved up a little maybe, could be the camera angle but it looks a little lower than the other two? It'd be further away from the lanyard hole also, and in a bit from the butt of the handle. I would worry about non-stabilised wood possible chipping if dropped around those stress points. Would be nice with a natural micarta as well, Jute based maybe?

Could the pins holding the bolsters on be etched to blend in, or soldered on maybe? Lovely piece with very crisp contrast, not muddy like a lot of Pakistan made mascus.

Overall, that's a lovely knife. It could be done with a bunch of options for the handle for people that want to make it individual while keeping the blade shape the same. Micarta, stabilised woods, bone and antler, G10 etc. would all work nicely on there. Nice clean makers mark as well, not obtrusive or over the top. Is that hot stamped or etched on lad?

Your file work adds a nice touch, and I do like a drop point for general hunting duties. The leather work is also very nice, nice clean stitches evenly spaced and well in from the edge. Do you burnish the welt side? Any chance of a pic of the belt loop as well, that be nice in a multi carry as well, D loop on the belt loop with a dangler if wanted. Nice feature panel on the sheath as well, Croc. or...?

Very nice package overall, just don't go digging field points out of tree stumps with it!

    Well done.

If I had €120 spare (Hell, if I had €120 that wasn't earmarked six months in advance) I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat. Gorgeous. Maybe down the line I'll have some business for you.

thanks for the thought and ideas re the knife, knife is hollow ground. there will be a bunch of options for the knife re handle material pins file work etc. pins are evenly spaced but may move them in future runs. the damascus is pricey but worth it for its as you said crispness of line. i could etch the pins but dont think it is necessary though i am taking them right down to the damascus.
would worry re solder as would not be as secure
sheath is the standard sheath that will come with the knife there is a welt and it is burnished (of course) belt loop is strong and of same material. will look at a a custom scout scar in the future, for now just taking it in small bites.
    regards.
