Noise Isolation or not?

I fly to and from Spain approximately 5 times per year.

I am trying to decide on whether to buy a set of Bose Q15's noise isolation or to just ger a regular set of Bose headphones.

Does any Bose users out there think the regular Bose over ear headphones are adequate for 6 2hr flights per year?

Bit price difference the regular over ear ones are €150 v noise isolation Q15 is approximately €300 so double the price and €150 just for the noise isolation.

Don't mean to be a pedant but I think you mean 'Noise Cancellation' - very different to 'Noise Isolation'.

Personally, noise cancellation 'phones are essential for those who spend a fair amount of time up in the air. I use the Senheisser PCX250ii noise cancelling phones, btw and find them amazing.

Regular over the ear or on ear headphones won't really offer much isolation from the roar of a jet. Not even in-ear phones.

For 6 flights a year, I'd rather get ear plugs & sleep ;)

My dad does fly every 3-4 weeks or so, so he did buy a cheaper pair of Bose over-ear noise-cancelling phones (not Q15).

Sound isn't as good as some of our cheaper Sennheiser sets though.

None of Bose's products are worth buying.

If you want headphones, buy Sennheiser HD 25-1 IIs.

If you want earphones, buy Etymotic HF5s.

Flew transatlantic recently with my Audio-Technica ATH-M50s, and I would say that noise cancellation is not essential by a long shot and good noise isolation goes a long way.

The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II looks to be "on ear", I prefer around ear :(

Tower Records in Dublin have a rack you can try various Sennheiser models on for comfort.

HD-25s seem pretty light on the ears.

Yes but i think without the "S" so this means the cord will be coiled rather than straight.

Where would u shop for genuine ath-m50 (coiled) in Dublin or even internet. Audiotechnica is giving long list of websites where not to buy, but dont say where to go for genuine either. Anybody knows ?

P.S sent 2 emails to them and no respond.
