    Hi all
Long time user of Boards but have never started a log. So here goes.
I have been working hard for 2 years+ now to get fit and also to lose weight. The weight has always been an issue since childhood but finally getting to where I am progressing to a standard size.
Started in early 2010 at 122Kgs with diet (sort of, i.e. stopped eating crap & drinking) and running. Worked from there and completed a Duathlon, then on to 2 sprint Triathlons, the Phoenix Park race series and finished with 2010 Dublin City Marathon. Finished this in 4:44 which was brilliant. Weight fell but plateaued around 107-110 Kgs.
In 2011 did the race series again and with the training for this, weight dropped to 103-105Kgs. At the end of last year I entered a boot camp where starting weight was 106Kgs and over an 8 week period dropped this to 99Kgs. Felt fantastic to break the 100Kgs barrier which was the first time since I passed it on the way up in about 1986. I’m 40 now and want to achieve a better weight and lifestyle so as ensure I see my 2 kids grow up and can participate in all of their activities as they get older.
The boot camp helped with exercise but the main thing was that and a combination of proper eating. By this I mean focus on fresh, more veg, fruit, protein and eating more regularly and after exercise which I wasn’t doing. Also, water, water, water for all aspects of the body.
So now I have set myself a target the TriAthy sprint in June and the Olympic TriAthlone at the end of June. I will also do the Race Series again and hope to beat PBs of 41:30, 91.23 & 1:59.50 for the 3 races.
Would also like to get to 90Kgs by the beginning of the race season and see where that takes me.

So here goes. Goes without saying that any and all comments / help will be appreciated.

Bootcamp last night so 1 hour of good hell. Hope to get out for a run today, 5 KM at lunch is the norm these days.

Hi Boccy, good luck with the log, you'll get plenty of help here. Are you following any particular plan for the half marathon, and are you starting from a good base? The reason I ask is that I am training for a half at the start of May as well and am in week 6 of the plan already. It seems late to be starting but just wondering is it a six week plan maybe?

Cheers. Have been running regularly over the winter but focused a lot on core work.
I'm following a half plan from Asics.com website which I started two weeks ago now. Did Hal Higdon plans for previous halfs but decided to vary it this time. I have to say I like the plan as laid out. Starts slowly but builds more pace than Higdon plans. I have set a goal of 1:55.
