I met an english man several months ago at my bookclub. He is a real gentleman but very funny and popular. I thought he did't like me because he talked to everyone except me ans seemed nervous and edgy around me, but he sat near me a lot. After a while I got the courage to email him. We met up in Starbucks at one point, but I was so nervous I couldn't think straight! I emailed him again but I thought his heart wasn't in it (I thought that a few times when he replied to me, he seemed a bit cold). Next time we met up, we asked me why I had been so quiet, and when I emailed him again he said I'd been on his mind. When I emailed him to say happy Christmas said he would contact me again to meet up, but hasn't so far.

i just don't know what to do, really. I've often felt he was waiting for me to do something, what i don't really know, and I really felt he liked me. If I was less shy I'd have asked him out ages ago but I feel so dsicouraged now and feel I mis read things, I am afraid to email him in case he feels I'm perstering him.

Op it sounds like you're the one making a lot of the moves here. As I assume you're a lady, I think he should be more forthcoming. I think you're making it clear where you stand but he sounds really not that interested. Ok, he may have been at one stage but maybe the dates or coffee or whatever didn't quite work for him.

It sounds like he's moved on since Christmas. I really wouldn't waste a lot of time over this. If he was really interested he'd have remained in contact in some shape or form over the holidays, even by a call or a text or something. That you haven't heard from him since means he was either letting you down easy at that stage or just toying with the idea of meeting you but things moved on and you slipped out of his mind. None of these thigns are good and there are plenty of other guys out there. don't waste your time on this fella.

Oops, think I had a drop too much last night. :/

Think you're right, looking it over it doesn't look good & I need to move on. He's a friend and that's it.

Mods, could you close this please.

I think you've done all you can to show this guy that you're interested. In fact, i'm pretty sure he knows you're interested. Don't be blaming yourself for being too shy or not asking him out.

The reality is that most guys like and enjoy doing the pursuing - any i've encountered anyway. Even shy enough guys will build up the courage to ask someone out if they like them enough. He knows where you are. If he wants to get in contact with you, he will.

In the meantime, i think it's best for your sanity to assume that he's not interested anymore, and start to move on. All the best.
