Hi, I'm in the process of building a new extension.

The foundation, hardcore and damp course have all been put down.

On saturday 2 inches of concrete were poured on the damp course and 4'' insulation put on the concrete. It rained a lot afterwards and i'm wondering,

    1) Is it normal to put the insulation on wet concrete and

    2) does it matter that the insulation is now drenched in the water underneath?

    thanks

    Hi,

Do you have a drawing detail for the floor construction? Was the 2" of concrete reinforced? What kind of insulation is it? What is going on top of the insulation? Was the DPC also a radon barrier?

    The concrete foundation was reinforced.

The hardcore was then added and it contained the radon barrier and then the dpc was put on top.

Two inches of concrete were then poured and 4 inches of xtratherm was put on the wet concrete.
I'm wondering will the insulation be ok in all the rain?

Underfloor heating pipes will be put on the insulation next and the floor poured on to that.

was the foundation a raft or a strip?

hardcore contains the radon SUMP not a radon MEMBRANE.
I assume its a DPM that was laid over the compacted and sanded hardcore?

2" of a concrete subfoor is certainly not enough if its a case of a strip foundation
