Any real life experience with the A5 sportback?

Looking to upgrade from a 1 series and looking at these. Prefer the 4 door practicality rather than the coupe.

Have a few models on fleet, but haven't really driven one for any decent period of time.

It's an A4 in a hatch body. Early models were only 4 seaters, newer models are 5 seat. Early models all had Xenon lights until the introduction of a Base model.

Went for a quick browse when it was launched and seem to remember not being overly impressed with the boot size.

Get an A4 then. Th A5 coupe is a nice looking car, but the 4dr in my opinion looks crap!

I had two test drives in the 170 s-line and found it quite boring.

The OP is looking for real-life experience :)

I was meant to test-drive one but didn't happen in the end.
IMO this is one car that needs big wheels to look right. And big wheels will ruin what is already suposed to be a pretty harsh ride. I'm not too pushed booking another test drive. I'd be surpried if it wasn't a pile of ****e ride and handling wise.

I think the A5 is a better looking car then that A4 (and herself drives an A4).

Managed to test drive one. Not a bad car with the servotronic steering.
Boot is more than ample and is easy to access.
Can't say I really tested it for handling and ride on the roads I drove it. But the ride is surely a step up front the rocky 1 series.

2.0 TDI 170+ hp didn't have the grunt I thought it would. Was ok but the 2.0 TDI in the OH's seems faster.

Yes, I was aware of the irony...:). Just after reading about the car & talking to a guy who test drove it along with an A6 I don't think I'd bother!
