Satellite Broadband (not with Three)

Ok so we have a satellite connection with three, we live in rural ireland and the service is terrible, it is so intermittent and we have an outrageous download cap, I can't download iPad apps without getting my service capped for a week. I am not using the connection for piracy of any kind and still my download limit must be something stupid like a gig a month. When contacting three I have been told my connection is in fact being capped and I have to wait until my next bill for it to be uncapped!

I have heard of other services that people have where they pay around 180 euro for a satellite install and then about 40 euro per month. But for the life of me I can't find any companies on google offering such services.

I am situated in Dungarvan Co. Waterford. If anyone could offer some suggestions to save me from this insanely bad service I have with three, it'd be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

I need to also note these services I've heard about apparently have no download caps and are good for gaming etc... I have looked at digiweb and onwave but these have very low usage allowance, probably similar to what 3 is providing.

You obviously are not in Dungarvan, because if you were, you would be using Cablesurf, the best ISP package available anywhere in Ireland, so I will give you the link here, and, you can get on your bicycle and call in to them.

I almost started crying when I saw those offers and how they're not available in Mayo...
I'm stuck with a Satellite connection with around 500kb download speed if I'm lucky, but the Ping is very good, and I don't have a download limit so I just leave stuff downloading overnight but I would kill to get a high download speed internet.

I'm using the Ka-sat product from Onwave in Mullingar. OK - it's costing about €60 per month but I have 7 Mb download / 2 Mb upload speeds which are consistent and an 8 Gb monthly allowance. There is a complicated algorithm on usage with speed step-down so that Tooway can share a limited resource. But it's a solution which beats the heck out of all others. I've tried every dongle from every mobile SP. Latency hasn't been an issue even with FaceTime. Also it downloads a different way to ADSL - so there's a slight pause for each new URL - but by and large its a solution if you can stretch to the cost.

    8GB, I download that much a day.

Yeah. But it still beats the heck out of anything else I can get. If I step up to the next package there's an uncapped allowance at 1 Mb download speed. So - yeah. Screwed. The way broadband is rolling out in Ireland would be like rolling out rural electrification in the 50's but only giving 220 V in large towns and ever decreasing voltages and timeouts everywhere else. Don't get me going. In France and Finland 10Mb broadband is a citizen right. We're screwed.
