*Un*authorized Apple dealer for 1st Gen Nano issue...?

So, my wife has one of the 1st gen Nanos that's affected by the recall. However, she wants to keep it because the engraving has sentimental value, and Apple are adamant that they won't do that via the mail-in replacement programme.

No problem, I thought, just need to find somewhere that will swap out the dodgy battery for a newer, non-explosive one... happy to pay the going rate for that (€50 or so at an Apple Store, IIRC). But none of the authorized Apple repair centers will touch it while there's a recall outstanding either, and it's too fiddly a job to do it myself.

Anybody know of a reputable, but non-authorized place (Dublin or Meath preferred) that would do this for me instead? Or is changing a potentially-dodgy battery just likely to be too risky for anyone to take on?
