Connection Capicity for ESB

A quick question as I have not signed up an electrician yet. I want to enquire to the ESB about a connection to my new-build. I'd like to get the application for connection up in their system as I hear it can take a while if you leave it until you need the electricity. I am putting in an 8KW single phase heatpump for heating and hot water. Other than that standard enough esb requirements throughout the house. The 12 kVa is the standard but would I need the 16 kVa due to the heatpump draw on power. Ill also ask my heating contractor but I suspect he will tell me to ask the electrician!

Obviously I will do that soon but I'd like to give the ESB an indication in my application.

    Regards
    Liam

They recommend a 16kVa connection with a heat pump - I think its gives you guidance on the form which is on their website for download.

It does say that on the ESB for and posed the same question for us. We asked the HP supplier first then the Electrician who has to be happy with it. The both said 12kva was ample in our case. Electrician will figure out the load for you..
