Hi all - If anyone had any advice regarding shoulder pain when cycling long(ish) distances, specifically the top of the shoulders where the collar bone ends.
My problem is that after 80k it begins to ache and gets gradually worse.
I love the sportifs and long spins and this is becoming a big issue after 130K,
I have had a bike fit to make sure im in the right position.
    Has anyone had similar issue?
Maybe someone knows a physio specific to cycling?
    Many thanks in advance
    S

MOD VOICE: Quick word of caution, the OP is only asking for a physio specific to cycling. No medical advice to be given in case anyone forgets.

NO stories on "I had the same and this fixed it for me... ", that is medical advice in my eyes and will be treated as such ie post deletion and infraction.

If you are unsure please PM me before posting.

If you are based in the south side I had great success with Karl Sexton, he is a cyclist as well. http://www.physiotherapists.ie/Karl-Sexton-Bray-Physiotherapy-&-Sports-Injury-Clinic-physiotherapist-162.html

Louise Keating in Iona Physio in Drumcondra.

Rebuilt my shoulder and about 4 other kayakers I know. may be of help.

It's not medical advice but Cram if you feel it is feel free to delete the post.

Are you arms bent while cycling? I've known plenty of people get shoulder / neck pain while riding with rigid arms. Always bend the arms.

Also for shoulder and neck pain or to avoid it I always suggest swimming as well as cycling. I swim a fair bit and I know other on here would promote how much it helps with loosening up the arms, neck and shoulder joints for those longer cycles.

Its reasonable cycling advice but as always, if your in pain or in anyway worried, see a medical professional, iregk s advice is for cycling in general and should not be viewed as advice specifically for you.

On a separate note, other physios include The Priory, near Stillorgan, I used them before.

Advice for exercises or advice on what is wrong with you, if it is the former, great, if it is the latter, I'd head down and meet one of them one on one for a personal consultation, having been in physio for many things, many times, while talking about the issue is important, they cannot diagnose or inform with out inspection, no matter how good they are.

    Just my opinion.
