Broadband question

    Hello,

I'm an interloper from across the sea but trying to protect my elderly Irish mother from potentially unscrupulous sales people so hope you will forgive the question... it may be covered elsewhere but there's so much on this subject its hard to pinpoint the search. Plus, I suffer from partial English genes which I'm sure slow me down :D

My mother needs broadband and we've been through all the options and the only way to get it for her is through a dongle.

She went into a 3 shop at the weekend and the chap there informed her that there was no way 1 gig of bandwidth a month would be enough for her to do online banking and an occasional online shop.

Luckily she didn't sign and so I was able to explain it would be enough. However, she went back today and now the story has changed that she won't get a signal unless she is part of the National Broadband Scheme and she can only be on that with the €19.99/month contract.

This may be true but given what they told her before I wanted to check before I let her sign.

    Many thanks in advance :)

    Hi,
If it was my mum, I think I would advise her to stay well away from this. There are other options from Vodafone or O2 available on prepay.
