free view sky box problem

I have just plugged back in a sky box that I use for free view channels. When I turn it on now the first channel that comes up is not Rte 101 where are it used to be BBC 1. So its loading up as if I have a card. Can't get e4 channel 4 and loads others. Has sky done something in the last few days to pump people using there old boxes as free view boxes

I had a similar problem recently and fixed it with advice on here. Dish had moved off line very slightly .

Starting point to pin point problem..use your buttons and go to service menu to check what

signal strenght & signal quality you are receiving ? both should be over 50%

I have a working sky box in another room working of the same dish. I just rang one of me mates and one of his has gone the same.

Just checked mine,still ok & have BBC at 101 etc.Do a software update-hold back up on the box,plug it out & in again.That should cure the problem.

I assume it's an old type box you have-not a HD one?

Its a really old black grundig one. So I hold the back up button for a few seconds then plug it out.? Thanks

Keep your finger on the button (on the box) while you plug it out & in again.Handiest way is to pull out the power lead from the box itself if you can't reach the wall socket.

have same problem only box wont turn on,tired most ideas on this thread but still having no luck.any more suggestions?

I too have the same problem with my SKY HD box.. No card in and I have RTE1 on 101.
Done the system update method by presssing back up and pluging in. System updated but still stuck with rte on 101.
Went in to engineering menu and down all the following, system reset, rebuild and all the others and still no luck.
Anyone any ideas?

I think most of the hd boxes keep the Irish epg without the card.

Ah, Grundig are no good for this Free to air viewing with the UK epg. Its a common known fact for some strange reason the Old Grundig boxes wont display the BBC epg without a card if its an Irish born box. Is it the box with the kind of cross selector switch? If so its a problem box. Software updates dont help either.

The HD boxes will never show the UK epg, Sky done a software update last year or may have been 2010 to stop the UK EPG appearing as to many people were cancelling their Irish Sky subs and using their Hd boxes for UK FTA HD channel viewing.

If you can get hold of a UK born HD box, it will work as normal.

I would love to be wrong on this.

That may be a fix for that Hd box issue:)
