    Guys,

We have a built in projector in the office.
The cables are all integrated and we have a Male VGA to Male VGA to get Laptop's (Windows) displaying presentations no problem.

Sometimes we get people coming in with Apple laptops.

I am looking for a cable that takes Male VGA at our end and plugs into an Apple Laptop.

I see Mini / Micro DVI to VGA on the apple site but but i dont know what one we need.

Idealy we need an all purpose one as we would never know what version of apple laptop the presenter will be bringing in?

    Hope thats clear as mud!

    Any help appreciated.

The port you need will depend on the model of Macbook you are using. Do you know approximately how old it is? If you are running Lion, then going to the Apple logo > About This Mac > More Info will show the release period.

No Aidan, would have no idea until the guy turns up.
90% of the time, these guys bring the connectors with them but theres always a few that dont.

Is there even a case that theres only 2 different types or are there many different types?

the job have stated that if there 2 different types, then get them, but i dont want to go and buy if theres 10 different types

All you'll need is a MiniDisplay Port to VGA adapter. Places like PC World etc. sell them. Some HMV stores with mini Apple stores also sell them.

Is this the generic one that works on PC and Mac?

I don't think there is any PC that will have a Mini DisplayPort. That adaptor in your post will do you for most recent models of macs.. TBH, as a Mac user doing presentations at other people's premises, I would be a complete doofus to go without my own adaptor to hook into the VGA. I actually have 2 each for the MBP and iPad.
I would go as far as to say anyone that doesn't bring their own should be beaten around the body with a laptop bag of poo......:D

Well said, whiterebel. Here is my favourite link which gives an idea of the problem with having a video adaptor for every Mac.

That's a very handy list, Muggyog. I'd say I've had almost every one of those at one stage or another.....bloody adaptors have cost me a fortune down through the years.
