    Hi,

Is it possible to get a remote control for a laptop that allows you assign the buttons to any key on the keyboard?

I seen a few on google but they look like they are all preassigned and not interchangable.

    Thanks for your help :)

its for a music website. The website has keyboard shortcuts for fast forward, next track etc.

So im looking for a a remote control that i can use with its buttons programmed to press the keyboard shortcuts.

    hope that makes sense.

Nope, not going to work easily i'm afraid. Do you have to listen to the music in your web browser?

If you have a smartphone you can use that as a remote.

Think android, ios and windows phone should all have apps.

I use gmote on android, works perfectly as a mouse touchpad and keyboard.

Vectir works well for me, works on android, symbian and blackberry afaik. I was running it on a nokia 5230. It is mildly customizable in terms of button layouts. You can download a free trial and see if it does what you want.

Gmote has a keyboard in it. Not sure if it will work for the shortcuts though or if its on the app store.

Theyre bound to have some similar app though.

All Apple laptops and MacMinis have come with remote controls for years for running presentations, media-centre / DJ at parties etc. Very useful accessory with Apple ahead of the game as usual. I've also used bluetooth phones from Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson as remotes with MacBooks, etc
