I am thinking of buying a camper van, I know nothing about them so have a few questions.

    1. Do they need a Doe/nct

    2. Do I need a special license to drive? I have a B license.

    3. Does a pre 1980 needed to be test.

4 Could I use it a s a daily driver or would I need a normal car policy too.

5 Are they all 88euro to tax.

I am thinking of buying a Vw diesel camper.

    Thanks a mill

From March 1st 2012 yes they will. (Lots of threads on here about this.)

No so long as it is not over 3500kg a B license is fine.

Your insurance company will probably insist on an engineers report.

To get a camper policy from Dolman you must have a car policy in your own name.

    Hope that helps

Not if registered as a vintage.

I think one of them does offer a daily driver policy`, but it's around double their camper rates. email dolmen and stuarts or check them on line.

It's less than that again if it's classified as vintage.

Good point. Didn't think of that.

The ins co may ask if vintage will you be driving it frequently or just to vintage shows etc?

We had a vintage motor bike and that wasnt a question asked but for what ever reason (frequency of use = great risk) you may be asked for the camper van. So be prepared.

It can be taxed as a vintage and insured as a camper.
