    From Galway Co Council:

The six beaches in County Galway which were awarded the Blue Flag for 2011 are as follows:
    • The Long Point, Loughrea Lake
    • Traught, Kinvara
    • Trá an Dóilín, An Cheathrú Rua
    • Trá Mór Coill Rua, Indreabhán
    • Trá Cill Mhuirbhigh, Inis Mór
    • Céibh an Spidéil, An Spidéal
As a general rule be a bit wary of any beach that has ditches or streams running into it.

If your are planning to swim now then water quality will be the last of your problems :D

There are loads of little hidden beaches than are really nice. A lot only appear when the tide is out. You could go to my beach at high tide & never know that it was there but at low tide it's superb. The brilliant thing is that, even on a summer Sunday, there won't be more that 3 or 4 people. :)
