Is Fakro Eurotop a similar product to the likes of Solitex Plus for the roof? Have never heard of it and just wondering is it to make the roof windtight?

can you give us a bit more detail about what stage of building your at? what do you mean by making the roof air-tight? you see there are two distinct types of roof build-ups used current: warm roof or cold roof

cold roofs require ventilation, warms roofs do not. each has a different specification and requirements. rather than explaining it here, if you look at the IAB certificates for both of the products you mentioned, you will get an idea of what is there preferred installation process for each method.

so when you say 'air-tight' my short answer is neither product is designed for that purpose, as its on the warm side (inside) of the insulation, that a membrane (or equivalent material) achieves the air-tightness level and reduces vapour transfer.

Thanks Bryan. Not at roof stage just yet but getting close! I realise those products are not for airtightness but was just wondering are they for the same purpose? ie do I need the Fakro and the solitex also? Going to get some professional input and just want to know a little.

they both claim to be breathable, however the details shown on the fakro IAB do not appear as good as those on the Solitex. I would be more familiar with the solitex but would have no preference, the point I'm making is, if you read the certification you can decide for yourself - just goggle the name followed by 'IAB certification'
