New Zealand 3DS work with Irish games?

I know the 3DS is region locked but does New Zealand fall under the Australia/Europe region? I'm here for a year and thinking of picking up a 3DS but I won't bother if Irish games won't work when I get back.

    Anyone know?

Should be fine. Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are all lumped together in gaming terms.

The traditional regions for Nintendo are Japan, US, Europe/Australia but I'd be careful what you buy since it used to be pretty easy to get US games for the DS in Australia (this is based on hearsay, not personal experience). Don't know if there's a scene there for retailers importing US handsets and games to beat release dates or get any decent jRPGs that the EU can't be arsed to localise.

A good way to tell is to look at the age rating on the box. If it's got a PEGI rating it's Euro, if it's got an ESRB rating it's US.

Is the 3DS region locked? That sucks, considering that the original wasn't

Unfortunately, yes. They semi-region blocked the DSi with certain DSi-enhanced games, but all 3DS games have region restrictions. DS games on the 3DS aren't affected AFAIK.

Are DSi Enhanced games denoted on the box? I don't remember seeing anything on Pokemon black, but then it could have been written in 18 different colours on the front, I wouldn't know 'cause I can't read hiragana :)

I'm not certain. Searching around it seems the answer is "it depends". Someone who compiled a list says that some boxes say it, others you have to rely on the product code (regular DS games start with NTR, while DSi Enhanced titles start with TWL). Glancing over his list, I don't think I've any of the games mentioned.

That's true, I have a version of Chinatown Wars that I kept from my DS and its an American copy. Works without a problem.
