Cars for cash - scrap

I have often seen adverts by people wishing to buy cars that have come to the end of their life. i have an old Opel Corsa 1.4, 1999 , that works fine but has been parked in yard for about a year now as I can't afford to tax and insure it as well as my other vehicle.
Thinking of calling one of these 'cars for cash' people.
Anyone have any experience with them?
Are there better ways to get a good price for it?
