For some flights it is cheaper to book using edreams, than to go to the actual airline companys website and book directly. How does this work??

Sometimes there's a difference of about 10% that Edreams give you for booking on-site in a bid to get more business. Don't know of any other reasons!

Are they not losing money doing this though?

Flights I booked were roughly 100euro cheaper on edreams. Yeah about 9% cheaper.
