"New changes to the NCTfrom 1st June 2011 will see an annual inspection for vehicles 10 years and older"
My car is a 02 reg that will be 10yrs old in April, does this mean that if i test before then,I will get a 2yr cert?

I see your point.. but no I reckon not. If you put it in early you are just pre-dating it's "10th birthday" test. *I think*.

You could do it last year 3 months early and have it for 2 years once you tested before June 1st so even if your car was end of August you got 2 years from that date once tested before June 1st. As far as I know once the 1st June passed anything that after that was 1 year, couldn't be done early to avail of 2 years.

I got my 2002 car done on Wednesday. It's birthday isn't until 25th April. I was issued NCT until April 2013.

No. You will get only 1 year cert, as it's going to be 10th registration anniversary NCT. Fact that you are doing it 3 months earlier is irrelevant.

The example earlier is correct. It's a 12 month test until 2013. It's just been done 3 months early

He only got a 12 month cert, not as 'hopeful' as you might think, this is 2012.
