    Hi all
I am trying to determine which is the best option to go with getting wedding invitations done
I want to go for whichever makes most sense in terms of pricing
Our theme is black and white and think the pocket fold invites are great idea
    But do you;
    - buy them ready to be sent out
    - buy DIY sets and complete them yourself
    - buy the paper and make the invites from scratch

Also have no idea what price in or around you would be talking for invites. We would need to get approx 120 wedding invites and about 100 after invites.

Kinda clueless here and not sure where to begin so all info appreciated

    Thanks

we made our own from scratch and they cost us 10.50e for 100.

we already had the printer ink and we use buttons as additional decorations

there are no rules on the invites, limited to your imagination and budget and how much work you want to put into them. ie, It might cost a little more to order but a lot less work.

theres several irish sites doing pocket type invites so you can get prices with a quick google but if you approach any printer with an example, they'll do them up for you with cuts and folds the way you want and save you a lot of trouble.

1 thing: 100 after invites? I work at weddings, the average attendance of afters only guests at a wedding is about 10 and thats if any at all. commonly hear a bride say "oh I have 150 coming to the afters" and 2 dublin buses turn up with 5 people between them. Have a rethink on this.

We made our from scratch. Cost about €1 each including envelopes. We got all our material from Daintree in Dublin. This is their website: http://www.daintree.ie/

They are EXCELLENT. Ours looked REALLY expensive and professional. Far better than anything I've seen from a printers. I'd highly recommend calling in to their shop if it was convenient for you.

We're using Daintree for ours as well, and they are coming out looking great. They will provide a printing service for the text bits, or they will make up the whole thing for an extra charge (depending on how fiddly the design you pick and how crafty you are, I guess!) We're making ours ourselves, because we've picked a really simple, elegant design and are used to making things like this.

I've found them to be really nice and helpful in the shop - they made up a test invite for me, because I wanted a variation on one of their stock designs. That said, they also sell the paper off the website and they have instructions, templates and how-to videos on there too, if you're not able to visit the shop in Dublin.

Try www.cardznscrapz.com and www.simplyelegance.ie - between both sites I've got enough to make 200 invitations including cards, envelopes, bows, peel-offs, inserts, & other embellishments. The whole lot came to under €60. Lovely site also at www.diywedding.ie

pocketfold invites are probably the most complicated if you're planning on making them from scratch. There are good kits on sale for those which would work out cheaper than buying them especially made for you.

    What are pocket fold invites?

It's the kind of card that you open up and it has a pocket on the inside for holding all the extra information such as directions, RSVP cards, extra info, and sometimes even the invitation itself (if it's a sheet invitation).
They can be 2-page style cards with pocket on left or right of the page but usually they're 2.5 or 3 page with the pocket on any of the 3 pages if it's a 3-page folded invitation or on the right page if it's a 2.5 page card.
What I mean by 2.5 is that it's like the standard 2 pages with a half page flap on the left to usually tie or fold over the outside of the card (i.e. over far right page).
A bit of a lengthy explanation, should've just posted some pictures!

If you google pocketfold it'll come up with hundreds of images...

Here's a site that has a load of variations:

and found this with instruction on how to make your own!

we made our own - bought the paper and matching envelopes from www.paperassit.ie - they were very good. We just printed an image on the front and text in the inside. Each A4 sheet made two invites and then we used the same paper for the directions, RSVP details and thank you cards. I think it came to €200 for the paper and envelopes in the end (including a full reprint of the invites because of a typo!)

We used www.zazzle.co.uk for ours and they came in around €2 each for a day invite and rsvp card with envelopes. We were only ordering 55 of each so we could have gotten them for less if ordering a bigger number.

This is a great site if you're a bit graphic design oriented and can work within their templates to personalize them and get the vibe you want. You can select what paper you want them printed on, e.g. we had ours done on a heavy linen textured paper, and they have lots of really cool basic designs.

I'd have great ideas for the Daintree-type DIY stuff (which I have heard nothing but good things about!) but I'm all fingers and thumbs when it comes to gluing things together. :D

Made ours from scratch probably cost about €20 including everything. Postage was about €70 but we put a stamp on the RSVP envelope as well. We went with a very novel idea that was easy to print and went down brilliantly with our guests. We used a cutter someone had picked up in Lidl that made the end of the invite tear off/detachable as the RSVP.

    We got ours from DIYweddings.ie.
Invited the bm's over, promised them pizza and wine in return for helping out putting the invites together, we had a little production line going...got them all put together and written and into envelopes by the end of the night. ( before we got drunk)

Never really worried about invites. Even when I get a really beautiful wedding invite i admire it but it still ends up in the bin. Maybe i'm not sentimental enough, its just me.

Spent 26euro on our invites in Eason. Really simple black/white/silver design by paper tree, was nice to be able to buy irish. OH doesnt like the wording printed inside as it doesnt suit a civil ceremony & reception in same venue so we will print our own text on card and glue it over the original, job done!

    We did ours here:

    http://www.inkinvites.co.nz/

it's a NZ company but it's just a bloke working from home so you can order them from anywhere in the world and pay him with paypal. We paid $90NZD (about 50EUR) for the design (I think) and then got them printed at a little print shop for another $100ish 0NZD and I printed the design on the envelopes myself at work. So all up it cost us about $200 for awesome. very proffessional looking invites, we've had loads of compliments on them.

You can use his set designs or get him to design one from scratch. Then he just sends them to you as pdf files and you can either print them at home yourself (he gives you instructions) on your own printer or get them printed somewhere.

He also designed order of service booklets for us for an extra $10 (about 7EÜR). I went in to a print place in Dublin today and they charged me 55EUR to print 100 of them so pretty good :)

    I can't recommend him enough!

Doing our own: bought some heavy A4 card in Easons, some miniature pearls and paper sunflowers from eBay, all in it cost about €50 but we'll also be making table numbers from the same materials so not too bad.

Planning to hand deliver as many as possible in order to save on postage.
