    Hey everyone,

I'm near to XBMC. I have a 40" Full HD 100 Hz Samsung Smart TV and want to make full use of it. Is it possible to get XBMC on the smart tv or do I need to hook up the laptop to stream it? I have the laptop hooked up to the tv with a wireless keyboard and trackpad.

    Any comments guys?

    Cheers,

    W.

You need to plug in the laptop or a streaming device with a HDMI, it's not possible for the Tv to run XBMC.

    Was reading this on lifehacker:

I must install 6 programs including XBMC of course. Is there an easier way or is this the best method?

    :)

It depends on what you want to do. You don't necessarily need those tools, they all do a different function, you use them to download, sort, rename and add media information to the files. XBMC is the media player, having them named properly with media information makes it easier for XBMC to scan them, but XBMC can scrape media info itself if setup correctly.

    Hey PogMoThoin,

What I really want is to watch lots of channels on my t.v. I can hook up my laptop to stream what I need. What is the best set up for me?

    Thanks for the comments.

There's a Plex app for Samsung Smart TVs.

It's not XBMC but it's got the same kind of graphic UI and library navigation etc. You need to be running the Plex server on your network PC.

    Hey Voodu Child,

Will I still need to have my laptop hooked to the tv? Is it like xbmc where it will scrape for tv showings or like the youtube vid you simply install and watch tv shows straight away? Is it that easy?

    Thanks.

1/ You need to install Plex Media Server (PMS see http://www.plexapp.com/getplex/) on one of your PC's
2/ Use the Server to scan your folders where Videos are.
3/ On the TV you install the Samsung Plex Client.
4/ Then using your TV remote you launch the Plex Client on your TV, set the local IP of your Server PC.
