    The engines are solid enough, gearboxes can be a bit soft, window regulators fail and they can leak around the passenger foot well but it is getting harder to find a clean one or one that hasn't been turned into a felt spec. Also don't go by the amount of red letters in the TDi badge on the boot either. They can be bought on ebay for a few euro. Plenty of numpties out there selling 105bhp versions as 130bhp versions.

    But when looking at a 9 year old car you should judge it on condition rather than reputation.
