Laptop or tablet?

Ok, so here's my current predicament.

I currently own 2 laptops, well technically 3 but 2 are in use.

One is a Sony Vaio war horse; it's a big chunk of a widescreen laptop & is about 3/4 years old at this stage. The second is a small 11" dell which was bought as my travel laptop but is now essentially my day to day computer; it's about 1.5 years old & beginning to slow up.

I mainly use it for web browsing, email, facebook, netflixs & the like. However, I may well be going back to college to do a masters next year and may need it for that.

I like the idea/portability of a tablet but really don't want to spend more than €400 max, on one. I really like the Amazon Kindle Fire and was tempted to get one but am concerned about how well it can operate outside of the US.

The iPad is over my budget and I'm not sure if I can get a Samsung tab anywhere for less than 400. Has anyone any other good suggestions?

Do ye think I should get a tablet and try and clean up my Dell as much as possible; or just invest in a new laptop?

This is the laptop forum, your not exactly gona get an unbiased assessment here.

Now with that out of the way, I'd reccomend a laptop. It can do everything a tablet can and more. Something like this could do you fine, http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_S205_1116386.html, only 1.46KG.

What are the spec's on your dell?

Well I've always kind of been a laptop fan at heart and questioned the merits of a tablet. :D Thinking about it further I don't think I could see myself spending more than €300 on a tablet and a 'travel friendly' laptop is probably a better option.

Here's the Dell I have now, I bought it last minute before going traveling in the second half of 2010. I got it on sale in Harvey Normans for about €320. Actually, looking at the specs there, mine is slightly better spec'd. At least in that it has a HDMI port.

I've been having a look at the Dell Vostro V131...
