Where to buy a Relay tomorrow!?

    Hi,

I need to get a new Relay tomorrow for my Audi A4 as it's causing my radiator fan to stay on after I turn the car off and draining my battery (I have disconnected the fan as a temporary solution).

Do I have to get the Relay from AUDI? (which would be a bit of a problem as they are closed tomorrow and I work 9-5 Mon-Fri)

Or could I get one in Halfords or the likes?

    Thanks

    Cheers

I just wanted to know if relays are "generic" like fuses and can be gotten anywhere?

Or if it was a part that has to come specifically from the dealer

    Will try Halfrauds tomorrow so!

Depends on the relay, if it's a normal 4 or 5 pin 12v relay that Halfords will have them in stock. Realistically it won't be, I gave the local Merc garage a fair few quid for a OVP relay for an ole W124 I had, €95

Try a scrappies althought you'd do well to get one open on a sunday..failing that ebay is good for little things like that..just keep removing your relay til it arrives ;)

..... presume you reconnect the fan when heading out in the car? Might be handier to pull the offending relay after you park up :) I'm struggling to see how this would happen though at the fault of a relay, when the ignition is turned off no 12Vs goes to the relay.

Normally I'd agree but my GFs Citroen Saxo done this recently with the powersteering pump was sticking open when she switched the car off..you could here it wirring away.

Needless to say a new relay from Citroen 26 euros solved this.
