    Hi all,
Havn't been on this forum for awhile.

Was recently asked to do a fire cert application for a change of use from residential to commercial (bakery). Small business.

I havn't done a fire cert in years and unfortunately my templates are now out of date. I am looking for TGD B as a 'Word' document. I don't think the simple one storey building requires a fire cert based on BS5588.

If anyone has TGD B in 'word' format I would be delighted to get a copy:)

    ............

if in ANY doubt.... contact yor local fire officer and ask them.

theres no point in putting time into a TGD B compliance assessment if they require a BS5588 or even a BS 9999

Just splitting hairs a little here Syd. Every fire cert application I've ever done has always been based on TGDB and - depending on the building type - a BS5588 for part B1 - means of escape.

For parts B2 - B5 TGDB always applied.

And according to a CPD seminar I attended recently BS 9999 will not be acceptable to many fire officers. Most don't wish to move away from the BS 5588 series.

Otherwise I totally agree the first step is to consult the local authority fire officer.

In terms of a template follow TGD B. As for providing one, if the local builder down the road asked you for all your rates would you give them to him. I think not, no more so than I would give anyone the intectual property I've developed over the last 18 years

I should have added using TGDB is quiet acceptable for means of escape of a bakery providing the retail of bakery related items is not the primary function of the building

+1 with arch tech above. People have different layouts but the quality differs based on the experience of the provider.

Spent a lot of college on bs9999 to be told that no fire officer will accept it!!!

It's not on the south side by any chance ;)
