Are Magnum Safety Boots Allowed?

Hi I was just wondering are you allowed buy your own black safety boots for the Garda Reserves if they have toe and mid sole protection? As I was told that Magnum boots are supposed to be amazing boots and extremely comfotable, I personally dont know as ive never used them, So my question is are the boots in the links provided allowed to be used while on duty as a Garda Reserve and are the boots any good? and is a composite toe and mid sole which is claimed to be stronger than steel allowed? or must you use the boots issued? As I see these Magnum boots for sale in the Garda College Shop. Thanks

The plain and simple answer is no.

If you hurt your foot/ankle/leg or anything for that matter you will not be covered if you are not in the uniform provided to you.

Yes the shop in Templemore sells them, I asked about them the day they were brought in to the shop was it cleared for us to wear them as they are not issue and the answer is no.
