adverts.ie has loads. Watch it, cheap mountain bikes are often a false economy.

What I mean is the sort of 99 euro wonder mountain bikes that you see in halfords and dunnes/tescos near Christmas. These look great but are often built with crap components and are not ever designed to be cycled more then 100 miles in their life.

This sums it up pretty well

Something like this would stand up admirably to a bit of light park trail

your going to find it hard to find any half decent mtb for that money even second hand, i take it by wooden trails you mean actual off-road right? not just some gravel paths through woods or anything?

if you are doing actual mountain biking i wouldnt bother with anything under the 4-500 mark (odd exception in the second hand market but as you wouldnt really know what to look out for buying a second hand bike you could pick up a right clunker), if you where only using the bike for light commuting etc. you could get away with a cheap Bike Shaped Object but if its going to be used for mountain biking you want to feel safe on a bike (had a cheap 200 euro mtb that the cranks snapped and nearly killed me when i first started out, bso's are downright dangerous while mtbing)

there is a bike trail in portumna so i was hoping for that, its like an hour-2 long.. 4-500 is a bit much for a bike thats like nearly 2 weeks wages for me ha..
