Help with Android devices disconnecting from wifi

Mods feel free to move this:

I have 2 android devices in the house, a sony xperia and a Kindle fire, the kindle fire is not running stock software, I think both are on 2.3

Problem is basically they will constantly disconnect from my wifi. I have tried two setups, a vodafone huawei hg556a modem and an old Esat modem and belkin wireless router combination.

The Esat and Belkin work slightly better but the problem is the same, constant disconnection and the result is that I either have to toggle wifi on/off about 10 times to reconnect or else I have to reboot the devices and modem.

I initially thought it was a wifi sleep problem because if I constantly switch from websites it is usually ok but I have tried all the wifi keep alive apps and wifi is set on both devices to never sleep but this doesnt work either. If either device goes to sleep I have to reset them and modem and if I am lucky I will get 5 minutes use.

*All other devices,pc's, netbooks Iphones etc have no problems with the modems so this seems purely an Android issue.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks

I had the same problem with a crap Digiweb Zyxel, the problem seems to be that when the router forces devices to reestablished their DHCP leases, some Android devices don't. I switched to a Billion router but I also upgraded my handset, so I'm not sure which corrected the problem. While I was waiting I stretched the DHCP lease time out as long as I could on the router.

Thanks, just checked though and the DHCP lease time is 24 hours, doesnt seem any point in making it longer.
