Yet another question re recording to DVD from UPC SD box

    Hi

    Just moved to Dublin.

I want to record from my SD UPC box to a DVD recorder. I have followed the directions in other posts as to how to do this.

I have a SCART lead from the UPC box to a Sony DVD recorder and a SCART lead from the Sony DVD recorder to a Samsung TV. I have tuned the DVD recorder to use the Line 1 input and have set up the TV to take an input from the DVD recorder.

I thought that everything was fine as I can view the TV programs from the UPC box and when I press 'dvr' on the UPC box I can see my list of recordings. However when I select a program to play back the picture vanishes and there is no output until I select the 'back' button on the UPC remote and then the listing of my recordings returns.

I was initially using a HDMI cable from the DVD to TV but have replaced this with a SCART but with no success.

I would be grateful if someone could let me know where I am going wrong?

Does your UPC box have a HDMI port? If so ,take the HDMI cable out of the UPC box when recording to the DVD recorder. You can't get output from both HDMI and SCART at the same time from a UPC box.

I know you said it's an SD box but I belive some of the newer SD boxes have both HDMI and SCART.

Sorry - restarted everything again just now and all is now sweetness and light!

Thanks - the UPC box does not have a HDMI connector.

All is now working based on my original set-up!
