Have no clue about this stuff

    Hi everyone,

I am currently unemployed and I'm getting tired of it, I was thinking of doing a course in cork in st johns college and a second one after.

I'm living in Waterford at the moment, my oy income is JSA. I am renting privately also without and rent allowance or anything so I have no money saved for anything. I will be leaving this house soon as the only reason I've managed to scrape through was my backpay and a tax refund and that's almost gone now.

I'd love to do the course, I don't have a clue how to go about getting a grant or how I'd afford accomodation down there. If I got the course I'd be 23 by the time it starts and as far as I know classed as a mature student.

So what I pretty much need to know is how to go about a grant and if there is financial help that I could get to help pay for accomodation or any suggestions/advice is welcome.

    Thanks :)

You are probably eligible for BTEA. Best thing to do is check with your local community welfare officer

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Look up the citizen's info website and www.studentfinance.ie for grants. You need to be already 23 to qualify as a mature student this year. Have you looked at courses in Waterford IT?
