    Hi All,

I have a 02 Ford Focus 1.6 petrol that needs a new clutch.

It's being going for a while but is nearing the end now.

Can anyone recommend a garage in south dublin to do this and how much should I be paying?

    Thanks,
    John.

    Hi Bumpsy

I don't know how much you would pay but I use Mannix Mechanics in Clondalkin, in the lane behind the Topaz garage just down from Newlands X.

Had a few dodgy experiences with other garages before but then was recommended this lad. Albert is his name and I find him very good, very reasonably priced, honest and reliable.

You should be paying somewhere in the region of €350 - €400. Make sure they replace the replace the release bearing as well.

I think you would be doing very well to get the clutch and concentric slave cylinder (release bearing) done for under €400. We charge €450 to do them and we are normally on the cheaper side of average for this kind of work.

I recon its safe to presume you don't price the jobs for the garage you work in;)

So, yet again, quoting how much you'd do it for as a nixer is irrelevant to the OP.

Ouch, I know from your other posts George that this is on lower end of prices I'd be quoted.

The car will also need a new timing belt in a couple of months, so will be spending not much less than the value of the car on repairs :(

I got one done for a friend (without the slave as the car was being sold) with a very good indie for less than €350 about this time last year. LUK clutch too. Not East Coast prices it seems.

Prices I've got from two independents that were recommended to me were €420 and €450, it's going in tomorrow.
