Hi everybody, I have 3 children, they are 12, 11 and 4. I am 34 nearly 35 but I feel about 20. My problem is lately eveywhere I go everyone thinks I am way older than I am. Its really getting me down and its very embarrassing when I have to correct them. I dont think I look that old but people are adding 10yrs+ to my age. Does anyone else have this problem.

I was still getting asked for I'd at 28 I'm nearly 32 and when I say I have a 12 year old people always say I dont look old enough. However I've noticed my skin ageing, I dress for my age, I dont dress like a 40 year old, my hair is natural blond no grey, medium length. I don't wear make up unless I'm goin out. That drops my age by a few years. But still I get the coments during the day when I have no make up on. I feel my age, although I have no health issues, I don't have the energy if my 20 year old self.

Sometimes it's how you present yourself that makes you look older.

It's amazing what a proper hair styling can do to your style. If you can, maybe go to a good hair stylist and be honest with them about your concerns and they shoud be able to advise on cut, style and colour that wil help you look younger.

It would help if we had a picture of you to figure out what it is that ages you. Clothes make a huge difference in how people perceive you so make sure your wardrobe is not aging you. Usually a
after a certain age getting a few highlights can really lift your face. As far as skin is concerned the tricks are:

this is the most important part: SUNSCREEN, yes, all year round, yes even in winter, even when there is no sun or when you're indoors. Use min spf 20 from October to march and higher from march to october. A really good one is La Roche Posay Anthelios

Next: get yourself a good exfoliant ideally with glycolic acid, not a scrub.
It can be a wash or a lotion/cream as long as your skin tolerates it well (no redness) and it has a good content of glycolic or salicylic acid (if you can't tolerate the glucolic) you're on to a winner. While you're at it, lose any cosmetics with unnecessary chemicals such as fragrances or colourings. The less you use on your skin the better.

Finally, ask your gp for a prescription of retin-A and learn how to use it properly. If your gp advises against retin -A (if you have rosacea for example) you can use a much milder version, available over the counter: Avene Ystheal

I would also ad a B-complex vitamin, some vitamin C and good quality fish oils.

It will take time (up to 6 months) but keep it up everyday and you'll slowly start to see results.
