This one is on sale in argos too

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9384332/Trail/searchtext%3E3050A.htm

its 52 euro but comes with extra ink, one extra black cartridge and one extra colour cartridge. Not bad for an extra 7 euro.

Yesco are doing them for €49.50 (again), too.

Where do you see about the extra cartridges with the Argos offer, logic? I only see that it "includes £19.99 worth of ink", which could be just the two. It also mistakenly says that it "uses 4 ink cartridges", which it doesn't.

What is this HP like for ink usage and cost of replacing cartriges.

Anyone know the best brand for value for money for ink

I'm no expert on printing but I notice plenty around here will tell you that its the more expensive printers have the cheaper ink. I know, though, there are certain printers that you can get and new printer cartridges can be got for them for a few euro off ebay, seen people talking them on boards before

General rule of thumb, the cheaper the printer the more expensive the ink cartages.

A mate of mine ran an Internet cafe in Ennis a few years back, he availed of a special offer of a free printer with each of the 12 new PC's he ordered from Dell. He kept the printers for personal use, when each of them would run out of ink he would dump them rather than replace the expensive cartages.

Decent printer for the price here- €5 cartridges from inkjet.ie will work in it too.
    Edit: was £40, now £45

Thanks didn't know that! Works out at €48 cheaper than ink for my current printer.

I started off with a basic/cheap Epson printer for my PC. Never again. Over the years the ink cartridges cost a fortune, even though I used to get generic ones in Tesco. The thing was the printer required 2 cartridges in the printer at all times: 1 colour, 1 black.

Anyways I decided to get this laser printer: http://www.canon.ie/For_Home/Product_Finder/Printers/Laser/i-SENSYS_LBP3010/

I can't remember where I got it online but it cost around €80. It only prints in black. I don't need colour really.

I get the toner from www.inkmaestro.ie Really good value on this site. The offical canon one costs €50 (seen it for ~€70 on other sites.) The generic one is €35, works great and gives me 1,750 pages.

+1 for the laser printer. we bought the samsung from amazon (ml 1650 iirc ) for around 50 euros, it was a special, got the toner with it, using coupons from pigsback for general groceries it has more than paid for itself and the replacement ink we got last oct.

will probably need another one soon, but can't recommend them enough. not trying to be a wum

It says in the first line of the details, ".....which includes £19.99 worth of ink", I got spare ink cartridges with mine which is good value considering the price of ink. I don't print that much so this should last a while.

    Re-fill the ink yourself.

You will get leaks that start to damage the printer. I just buy the cheapest printer I can find in Argos/Aldi wherever and on black ink alone I'm ahead even if it only works twice!

Photo printing is different, but black even for business and colour stuff for homework?

A couple of years ago Which? magazine said the ink in cartridges was 9 times more expensive that good vintage champagne!

I got a Samsung SCX all in one BW laser colour scanner photo copier for anyone who want to print anything more than rarely. Even if you are only printing rarely often these inkjets get clogged up and it takes someone to clear it to get it working, and thus a support call. The Samsung SCX works everytime. I rarely print something at home. Not really worth having a printer at all. I just use the one at work or pop around to someone in the family. But its like once or twice a year.

So are you recommending the Samsung Laser Colour.

Is it expensive when replacing a color laser cartridge compared to a black and white one.

    BW laser printer
    Colour copier/scanner

So you only have black to fill. Toner is more expensive but it lasts a very much longer.

OP link doesnt work. Kind of annoying when people post BAs with no mention of price. Nothing to compare to especially when link dead.
DID had a megasale yesterday - had a look, MegaUnderwhelmed.

It was an older model I bought. But very similar. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have a toner (laser cartridge are toners) included. It must have. Note this prints only black and white. Make sure thats all you need. They also do colour ones, not sure of their running costs. But if I was doing any sort of frequent printing I'd get a laser. If you doing a lot of printing you might need to consider a better laser. This one is intended for relatively low volumes.

    Theres a review here.

Incidentally one of the reasons I went for it, is that its compact, So its fits in a small space.

I was recommended this one because of the low price and low price of ink

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9371383.htm

    Kodak ESP C310 All-in-one Printer

I think it prints from black and white or color seperatly and the ink if fairly cheap

seems on par with laser except you have color when you want it.
