skype and data usage

    well.
    any idea how much data skype uses..I am on an O2 10GB monthly plan and use skype for approx an hour daily. also does it matter if i make the call? and does it matter if you use turn off the camera?

    I had mobile broadband with O2 last month and used skype for approx 1hr on one evening and 2 hours the next. I don't know exactly how much it took but it really wasn't a huge spike. I think over those two days it went down 100mb and that was including light website use too.

    It uses a lot of data, no matter whether you make a call or not. If you're logged in it gobbles data.

    The more contacts you have, the more data used.

    Thanks for yer help. Just got my bill. Used skype for approx one hour an night for a month and i just came in under my 10GB allowance..

    Maybe you should consider moving your phone to three, they offer free skype calls.
