Hi everyone. We live in Greystones County Wicklow and our cable provider is Sky. Our Sky remote stopped working around Christmastime and we have called Sky five times to ask them to send us a new remote. Every single time we call, :confused:they apologise for not sending the remote and tell us they are sending us a new remote. Can someone on this forum give us a suggestion of a particular person we can contact or action we can take to get a replacement remote control from Sky? They have our correct address. Many thanks for your help XO

As a sky installer I know that remotes are not covered by warranty so I am surprised they said they would replace it at all. The remotes get dropped off chair arms, chewed by dog and kids, it would cost them a lot of money to replace them.
Obviously if they say they have sent one they should do.
You can buy sky remotes in tesco, power city, Argos from 10 euro for standard and 18.99 for hd+

when you sign to sky you own the equipment so they are not obliged to change the remote for you, did electrical sell them also

You can purchase one for 2 euro on eBay. Hardly worth cancelling your subscription.

Did you know you can control the channels etc via the user interface buttons on front of receiver module?

I didn't know that Sky provide a cable service. In Dublin their only service is satellite.

Have you checked the batteries in the remote?

    Have you tried changing batteries?

Changing the batteries won't make a difference though if the remote is
    Damaged

But is damaged? The original post said that it stopped working, expended batteries would explain that.

With Sky it usually flashes on screen when the batteries in the remote are running low, but its worth a try to change them as its cheaper than replacing the remote...

I'm a electronic engineer and fore ever being asked by friends to fix things and you'd be amazed how often its the battery, plug or socket.

They don't, although there is Communal Sky in some apartment blocks. Its still satellite, just the dish is shared by the entire building.

    Anyway, moved to satellite.

OP as a poster above says, Sky replacement remotes (unlike UPC remotes) are easily available in most good electrical dealers, and most universal remote controls intended for the UK market can cope with Sky Digiboxes.
