What would be the advantages and disadvantages of putting the motor tax into the fuel price? Has such a question of putting the motor tax into the fuel price ever been risen in the government?

From what I can think off.

Advantages to both the government and citizens:

Everybody pays road tax, no way to avoid it
Foreign cars pay the road tax
Less waste of time for the Garda
No need for the tax offices anymore
    You pay what you drive

As for the disadvantages, I guess people in the tax offices would lose their jobs and people drive a lot might end up paying more.

What about people who Drive 4x4's with a higher tax, compared to those driving smart cars or similar with very low tax?...

Primary issue is commercials which would obviously add to delivery costs. A 30 tonne truck costs 4833.00 a year to tax, how many Km per litre would the typical engine of same get through?

I want to buy an M3 and not pay 1700 euro annually for nothing(look at the state of the roads) damn it...

I haven't seen anywhere else a car with a small engine and no options be worth more than a car with a bigger, better, more reliable engine and with more options and features.
