    Hi All,

I am currently in the midst of purchasing a new motor with wheelchair accessibility. I have searched the web and cannot find the dimensions of the rear opening (as in the heighth from floor to the lowest point of the doorway when open) for the Hyundai Montana, I need to know if the wheelchair lift I have is suitable. Hopefully someone out there is in the know.

    Thanks in advance.
    G.

Would I be right in thinking the Montana was the passenger version of the H1 Van?

It seems the H1 van is no longer sold anywhere, but in the UK there is an iLoad. If you've seen the Montana (and it must be a rare beast - €36,000 in 08) and it looks a lot like the pics of the iLoad in the link below, it's probably the same van.

Load area opening dimensions for the iLoad are in this article - http://www.whatvan.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=667&Itemid=71

Cheers for the info, I wasnt aware that the Montana was difficult to get, its just that I have a 2010 Santa Fe to trade in and felt that I would get more bang for buck sticking with Hyundai. I might be forced to look elsewhere! thanks for the advice.

If you need to get a wheelchair into the back of a vehicle then my advice would be to go for a front wheel drive car/van of some sort. This will not only give you a taller door aperture (better for access) but also a lower floor height which leaves more space for the occupant in the back of the vehicle

I need to cater for driver + 3 passengers and space for wheelchair. I have also been looking at the 9 seater Tourneo (back row 3 seats to be removed). Anyone have any comments?

Have a look at the Merc Vito too. 3rd row of seats is fairly easy to remove and leaves a 5 seat with massive space behind the 2nd row of seats.

The Montana has a different back door to the iload. dimensions are probably the same but it opens up as opposed to swinging out.

Right, I have been trying to source a motor now for the past 2 weeks similar to the montana or tourneo, i'll consider primastar, trafic, vito or whatever in the same category that will accomodate a wheelchair and the electric lift. I have contacted most of the dealers in Limerick, who to be quite honest are shockingly poor at even returning a f**king phone call!!! Anyway it transpires that many of the brands have no stock of this type of vehicle at the moment and are unlikely to have them in the next few months.
So I thought I would check here to see if there are any dealers (anywhere in the country) lurking here in the background that would have an 8/9 seater 2012 passenger van in their posession. I have a 2010 7 seater 2.2 4wd Santa Fe to trade in and am eager to do a deal quickly, none of this f**king about of "leave it with me" sales bull, i wanna get this sorted asap.

You are probably going to be out of luck finding a 8/9 seater of the size you want, in stock in the country. As they cost around €40,000 and there isn't a big market, dealers are loathe to stock them.

Ordered a Vivaro in July 2010 that arrived just before Christmas 2010 so was delivered Jan 2011.

Ordered a Tourneo in May 2011 that was delivered in September 2011, so it's usually a good few months to get hold of one.

Might be worth calling one of the Windsor branches as they did have some Primastar 9 Seat models last year that there were special deals on, but they might be all gone by now - worth a shout anyway.

Maybe it was a little naive of me to think that given the drop in car sales, that a dealership would be eager to engage with me. The response I have gotten so far from sales reps is extremely disappointing, almost seems that they could not give a toss!

I'm beginning to wonder if I am better off to deal in the UK and bring one in.

Thanks for the tip off re: Windsor, am waiting for a rep to ring me back.

Op, you are in The Banner. Dulick or Windsor, Galway for Nissan. I drove into Dulick a week ago and I must say they had a woeful display of cars, never mind a large vehicle. The boys in Windsor are way better and there's the added bonus of multi branches that they can instantly access to check stock. If you go the UK way, have a look at the Merc Vianio(? spelling).Good value in 09-11 vehicles. You'll be shot by VRT if you buy new in UK.Then again, the UK Mercs are a better standard than what we get here.

    Hey Kris,
I qualify for the Disabled passengers grant, would this not reduce the VRT to be paid? would it have any impact on VRT to be paid in the UK? Sorry for all the questions! I feel it is probably in my best interests to buy new.

    http://www.wheelchaircarsireland.com/used-cars-live.html
that site has a full selection of vehicles that suit you. There in westmeath though but with the pure choice they have it'd be worth the journey.

    Try Motability Ireland or Parfit.
they may have something ready to go, or probably import stuff from the UK
