Hey everyone, please see below for a competition especially for us all on the LGBT Board from the friendly folks at Huggitos greeting cards!

    What gives you hope?
Something that made me epically happy was when my Mum went out of her way 2 years ago to find a card that said 'Happy Christmas to my daughter and her partner', and made sure that the picture on it wasn't of a male & female, it was just 2 teddy bears. She went to 4 shops to find it.

That same year my pseudo grandmother went in and yelled at a poor guy in Easons because all their cards were boy-girl. Before me she would never have even thought about it.

Looking for a rainbow amidst all the rain, Irish Pat stumbled across the above thread on the Boards.ie LGBT forum which left a lasting impression on him. But what about the impression the poor guy in Easons was left with after the grandmother left... Answers on a postcard please!

This sowed a seed, where were those images that celebrated love in the LGBT community? In a world dominated with hetero centered imagery, where was the equivalent for those people different to the so called norms? Irish Pat now introduces Caribbean Tim, who he met in Outhouse. Caribbean Tim announced early in 2011 that he was being made redundant and Irish Pat saw the writing on the wall in his company; they were going to be bought out soon so what to do? They put their heads together (no, not like that people!!!!!!) and hatched a plan. What about greeting cards for gay people?

We cogitated, ruminated, procrastinated (a lot!) and eventually Huggitos was born. Why Huggitos, you bravely ask? They talk funny in the Caribbean and instead of saying hugs, they say Huggitos, which is also Spanish for little hugs, even though they don't speak Spanish on Caribbean Tim's island of Sint Maarten! Most people would sign a card with love, hugs and kisses and as we want to celebrate differences and would rather be quirky (or at least we aspire to it!), we went with Huggitos!

We launched Huggitos with gay cards and are now bravely venturing forth with straight cards as well. Our cards celebrate diversity and inclusion and we will be including other groups that have been marginalised in forthcoming months- just in case people want to know why and when a card with such and such will be made available. We are only 2 people and only one of them is an artist.

So, where's the competition, you may ask? Well, here it is!

Would you like to send your loved one a Valentine's card? The 5 best descriptions of their most memorable kiss or declaration of 'I love you' will have a card of their choice sent to them by Huggitos.

Just leave a reply on this thread which you feel best fits that theme. You can enter as many stories as you like, but remember that each story has to be different! You can submit entries until midnight, February 3rd. The Huggitos guys will pick their favourite 5 (but there's no harm in people 'thanking' the stories they like best!) and get in touch via PM to get addresses and all that jazz.

Let's get a little love going on!

(Also, just to let everyone know this competition has been approved by the mods, and also the site admins :))

I'm recently single after my ex cheated on me, so to cheer me up, I think I should have a card sent to me from a "mystery man" (which will probably end up being a staff member from Huggitos!) ! :D

Picadilly circus in london. Encouraged by the bottles of white wine we were discreetly sipping from water bottles she passionately grabbed me and kissed me against a (beautiful, part of a life defining moment) wall.

In our lust we hadn't noticed the huge "underground" sign.

Turns out it was Still rush hour and we were blocking the way of (potentially) thousands of people- or so it felt like.

Eventually the crowd moved around us amidst shouts of "get a room" etc. so we did.

And lived happily ever after for nearly 2 years, and long may it continue.

Sitting at the bar in the George about 15 years ago sucking the tonsils out of a very cute red-headed guy who has most likely long forgotten the whole encounter after several years of counselling:D staff were considering throwing buckets of water over us and reminding me I had a drink on the bar but for about 90 minutes we were somewhere else entirely locked in a loving embrace which did get rather "steamy" near the end.

If only I could turn the clock back that far I might not have frightened the guy off.

Know its probably not what answering the question but the lack of romance was depressing me :p! My other half has done so many things in our near eleven years together that It's impossible to just pick one.

I have to wait for over an hour to get my bus and and she knew I was going to be cold and I had seen a jacket I wanted. She works nights yet she got up and queued to get me the jacket and got a flat tyre in the process.
She did all of that so I would not be cold. May not be roses and hearts but that's love in my books! :D

She is simply the most amazing and wonderful person I have ever met and at the start that meant turning her back on her family as they would not accept us. Its still true to say that when catch sight of her even walking towards me in the street everything seems to fade away. Getting all soppy now lol :o

I may be one of the 5 winnder of the competition as Huggitos have sent me a PM telling me they are going to send me a card of my choice!

Who'd have guessed a bit of self pity would reap results? :D
