Another total rip off. I live in Scotland and the prices of six roses is more than what I would for a dozen here. Why the price difference? Honestly Ireland pi**es me off sometimes with the rip off culture. Delivery is also double what you pay here and all. €56 for six roses and delivery. Fecking £44 stg for a dozen including delivery here.

Love my auld one but she can go without:D

Wow I didn't know there was such a big difference in the price of flowers between Scotland and Ireland. It would be interesting to know the root cause of it all.

Remember too that if your mot is in a foul humour over flowers, she may actually just be in her flowers rather than wanting some.

This is a interflora's competitors take on it
    http://www.flowersmadeeasy.com/blog/2009/01/valentines-day-flowers-red-rose-economics/

The Interflora Effect. Interflora has more florists in the UK and Ireland than anywhere else. They decide their prices 12 months in advance and the base their prices on sterling. This means that the price of a bouquet in Ireland is determined by an accountant 12 months in advance at an exchange rate which is 12 months old – Doh! Yes major Doh , because sterling is now above 0.85c and was above 0.90c last week. This means that the price of 12 red roses is nearly 20% cheaper in the UK than it should be if everything else was the same. That also means that the price of 12 roses is 20% cheaper in Ireland but the cost the flowers is the same. So who loses – Well Interflora does as do the florists. Having spoken to loads of interflora florists since December, most of them are simply not advertising interflora bouquets at all because they simply would loose way too much money.

€56 for some flowers  Chocolates are cheaper, you'll get some nice Thorntons ones for 20 quid and you get some too! And you get some chocolates after aswell....

Or if she really like flowers just do that thing that skangers in your street who'd never seen a green belt in their lives used to do as kids/young adults. Get some of those weedy, yellow flowers that stain the skin, I've no idea of the correct name, 'Pissy beds' they were known as in my ghetto, rub them violently on her cheeks and say the magic words: "Got you with a pissy bed, got you with a pissy bed, now you have a yellow head". Manys the knack was conceived after that little tradition.

Last time she'll ask for flowers.

Ah that is a very thoughful thing to do.. ring your local florist nearest to your Mam's house (not an interflora) and they may be cheaper..

Buy a pack of rose seeds, plant them, and spend the next year caring and cultivating them.

Now's the perfect time for planting.

    Read the post.

    6 roses in Ireland - €54
    12 rose Scotland - £44.

How is that €2 a difference, it's twice as expensive nearly per rose!

From Aldi, before Valentines last year.I'd expect the price to be the same this year,no wonder they could never keep them in stock-Interflora can go shite.

A quick on line search, One dozen red roses, delivered, €49, which in my book with the way the exchange rate is right now, is pretty close, or even under the Sterling price, given the horrendous extra cost of getting fresh flower into Ireland, being as most of it comes by road from Holland, the issue is not the flowers, it's Interflora.

Interflora was a good concept 20 years ago before things like the web were around, they had a good system when there was no other option, but it's become VERY expensive, as the transmission cost is a very significant figure, as both Interflora and the sending florist get a % from the order value.

The best way to get flowers delivered now is to find an on line florist close to where you want the delivery made, and check to see what their feedback reputation is like, and then order direct either by phone or on line.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

My older sister lives in Holland and because they grow huge amounts of flowers over there - and they don't have a rip off culture like here in Ireland, she can get a huge bouquet of lillies or gladioli or tulips for the vases in her house for about €3 to €4.

Yes we are completely ripped off here when it6 come to flowers, especially flower arrangements. But is it any surprise to anyone?

How about 20 pink roses for €38 with free delivery ? - they look lovely wouldn't mind getting these myself - from the same site as The Zohan posted but look under the 'Free Delivery' flowers
